Scope of this policy (website and app)

This privacy policy explains how Orenio ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Orenio website (the "Website") and the Orenio mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Website (this landing site): We do not collect personal data through analytics, advertising tools, or tracking pixels. We do not set cookies for analytics or marketing.

Website local preferences: If you use the day/night theme switch on the Website, your theme preference may be stored in your browser using local storage so the site can remember your choice on that device. This preference stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us.

Third-party links and assets on the Website: The Website links to third-party platforms such as the Apple App Store and Google Play. The Website also loads fonts from Google Fonts. Those services may receive standard technical request information (such as your IP address and browser details) when your browser connects to them. Their handling of that data is governed by their own policies.

This privacy policy explains how Orenio ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Orenio mobile application ("the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

1. What we do not collect

Orenio does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information. Specifically:

  • We do not require an account, email address, or login of any kind.
  • We do not collect your name, phone number, or contact details.
  • We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or location.
  • We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID) or run any advertising.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

All of your session data, labels, settings, and history are stored locally on your device only and are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

2. What we do collect

We use Google Firebase to collect limited, anonymous technical data for the sole purposes of improving app stability and understanding general usage patterns.

2.1 Firebase Crashlytics

When the App crashes or encounters an error, Firebase Crashlytics automatically collects:

  • Crash logs and stack traces
  • Device model and manufacturer
  • Operating system name and version
  • App version and build number
  • General device state at the time of the crash (e.g. available memory, orientation)

This data does not include any personally identifiable information. It is used exclusively to identify and fix bugs.

2.2 Firebase Analytics

We collect anonymous usage events to understand how the App is used in aggregate. This includes:

  • Anonymous event data such as timer starts, completions, and skips
  • Settings changes
  • Streak milestones
  • General engagement metrics (daily/monthly active users, session duration)
  • Device type, operating system, and app version

Firebase Analytics does not collect advertising identifiers in Orenio. No user-level identification is performed. All data is aggregated and anonymous.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the United Kingdom, we process the limited data described above under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR -- legitimate interest. Our legitimate interests are:

  • Maintaining app stability and fixing crashes (Crashlytics)
  • Understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve the product (Analytics)

We have assessed that these interests do not override your fundamental rights and freedoms, particularly because:

  • No personally identifiable information is collected
  • No data is used for advertising, profiling, or automated decision-making
  • You can opt out at any time by uninstalling the App

4. Third-party services

The App uses the following third-party service:

Google Firebase (including Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics), operated by Google LLC. Firebase may process data on servers located in the United States or other countries. Google's data processing is governed by:

We do not use any other third-party services that collect or process user data in the App.

5. Data retention

  • Crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's default retention policies (typically 90 days for crash data; analytics data is retained in aggregate indefinitely but individual event data expires after 14 months by default).
  • Local data (sessions, labels, settings) remains on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall it. We have no access to this data.

6. Data security

All communication between the App and Firebase services is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS. Local data is stored in the App's sandboxed storage area, protected by the operating system's built-in security model.

7. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:

  • Rectification of inaccurate data

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about you

Orenio is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
